We Endorse Brett Hillyer For Ohio Congress

We asked Mr. Hillyer a couple questions. Here is how he responded.

1.
Q: Will you defend the Constitutional Carry -Whether 2nd Amendment or Ohio Constitution Article 1: Section 4- and help the state stay Pro-God given Rights?

A: "I support Constitutional carry.  Honestly, common law already gives an individual the right to carry when circumstances call for it without a license.  Extending constitutional carry only builds on that principle of law and the language of the constitution."

2.
Q: Will you defend the lives of the innocent? -Whether that is fetuses (that are alive and have a God-given right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness), or to hold police accountable if they fail at their job; and cost people lives?-

A: "I am pro-life and have been endorsed by Ohio Right To life.  I believe all people in government should be held accountable."

3.
Q: What are also your beliefs on Marijuana Legalization? -Are you okay if We The People decide to make it legal, will you uphold our decision?-

A: Marijuana remains illegal under federal law.  Personally, I disagree with the law as there are more important issues to be dealt with than marijuana possession.  I am really not sure how the state attempts to surpass Federal law.  I am all in favor of decriminalizing the penalty.  I am happy the government recently did away with the mandatory license suspension at the state level that served no purpose.  I would fight any attempt to treat the offense of possession at anything higher than a minor misdemeanor.  Honestly, the government can never regulate sex, drugs, or speeding and should stay away from those issues unless absolutely necessary.

The Committee To Elect Brett Hillyer did send out a flyer saying he will "introduce legislation that would create mandatory prison time for dealers of heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamines."

Also the flyer states he "will seek tax incentives to promote growth of local businesses to encourage relocation to our area."

The facts he is against the Federal Law of Marijuana remaining illegal, is pro-life, and said in general that "the government can never regulate sex, drugs, or speeding and should stay away from those issues unless absolutely necessary"-we have decided to endorse this daring and non-establishment candidate.
